University of Memphis Athlete, Taylor Bradford, Shot Dead

I’m currently sitting here listening to the local coverage of University of Memphis’ Athlete, Taylor Bradford’s, death. Currently, the local authorities aren’t releasing any information to the local news outlets as they have no available information about the perpetrator.  When asked by a local news reporter from News Channel 3, authorities said that had they had any information about the one behind the shooting, they would have already released the information. As it is, they can only confirm - somewhat - that the shooter was male. As of now, however, they have no other leads on the shooter.

According to an Associated Press article, the shooting occured near a university housing complex around 9:45 p.m, as Bradford was driving a vehicle. After being shot, Bradford then crashed the car into a nearby tree on campus. After Bradford was found, an ambulance took him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Classes have been canceled for the day at University of Memphis as investigators further investigate the shooting. An email sent to students on campus indicated that, while no information was being leaked to the press specifically, investigators felt that the incident was personal and “not a random act of violence.”
